Variant Configuration and filling a hole in a wall

Hi,

You would think it is simple to fill a hole in a wall with a window, door, or combinations of these.  What am I talking about?

Well we have just gone live with a VC Project in the Window / Door Industry in Aluminium and Timber.  When I started on this project it required a proof of concept.  Simple enough you would think and to some degree it was.

Proof of Concepts - important building block

Learn Variant Configuration Newsletter #CWG2012

Hi all,

For the October 2012 Newsletter I will cover some of the presentations that caught my interest from the conference underway.  I am not at the conference this year so I will highlight the presentations where you can get some value by reading the slide content.

Learn Variant Configuration - new Newsletter

Learn Variant Configuration

Hi all,

Normally when blogging I blog more as an individual than as my company Radiant Think.  But in recent times the company focus is moving to the training aspects of SAP Variant Configuration and largely in the "downunder" part of the world in Australia and New Zealand.

But one thing we are starting up that can be shared by anyone is a monthly newsletter called Learn Variant Configuration.

Can we help ourselves to help ourselves?

Hi all,

Many of the contributors and members of the CWG are experienced VC users or maintainers.  However we have a lot of members who have joined because they need to know more.  In fact we all want to know more.  One of the challenges someone new has to deal with is the SAP Help for VC.  For someone new I dont think it is that helpful as although most of the information is there it is not really well organised and lacks a focus on good design practices.

Is there a Best Practices for Variant Pricing

Hi all,

As I could not present directly at the Vienna Conference either in person or remotely, I provided my presentation as a recorded session, so it could still be made in my absence.

The presentation can be accessed from this link

http://radiantthink.com.au/content/variant-pricing-best-practices-vienna

until it is loaded on this site.

Are Consultants bad news for VC Implementations?

Hi,

I was listening to a Podcast about Russell Ackoff who was one of the original pioneers of Operations Research and had some interesting ideas on how business works.  If you look at Operations Research it is about optimising the parts - using stopwatches, algorithms etc.  But as time went on he saw things with a more big picture view.

Adding more Tabs and Buttons to the Interface

Hi there,

This maybe handy for some of you out there.  Every now and then the client will require more tabs and / or buttons than what SAP provide.  I think you can have 10 tabs and 15 buttons as standard.

But there are some SAP Notes that take through the process to allow for more.  I am not a techie, so I will list the notes that are applicable.  We have done this recently in a ECC6 system, but the same applies I think to other versions.
